Kid Cudi’s WZRD is Top Billboard 200 Debut, Top-Selling Hip-Hop Album This Week

On its first week on the Billboard Top 200 album charts, Kid Cudi and producer Dot da Genius’ WZRD self-titled album debuts as the top-selling hip-hop album this week and the only debut overall in the top 10.

The 2009 XXL Freshman’s collaborative set sold close to 66,000 copies its first week. Further, WZRD’s success comes after Cud’s allegations that an adequate amount of copies were not shipped to stores, as recently reported by XXLMag.com.

“Not too bad,” Cudi tweeted today in reaction to WZRD’s sales. “Not too bad at all…”

Tyga’s new album, Careless World: Rise of the Last King, dropped two spots but remains in the top ten at No. 6 after being picked up 37,400 times in its second week. Mr. Rack City’s latest disc count now stands at 98,900.

Tyga’s album is not the only YMCMB project in the top ten this week as he is joined by Drake’sTake Care. Drizzy’s sophomore effort jumped five spots, landing at the No. 8 slot thanks to 29,400 in sales over the last seven days. Take Care’s tally is now up to 1,524,800 after 16 weeks.

Young Jeezy’s TM 103: Hustlerz Ambition pushed 15,300 units in its eleventh week but slipped from No. 25 to No. 26. Fans have purchased 493,200 copies of Jizzle’s latest disc during its 11 weeks of availability.

Jay-Z & Kanye West’s Watch the Throne is a one spot below Snowman’s album at No. 27 after moving up from No. 38 in its thirtieth week. WTT sold 15,100 copies this sales cycle, bringing its gross to 1,364,000.

Ten slots behind WTT is Lil Wayne’s Tha Carter IV. CIV sold 13,100 discs this week, helping it move up five spots and bringing its accumulated tally to 2,038,600 after 27 weeks.

Rounding off the Top 60 is Chiddy Bang’s Breakfast, which plummeted 47 spots to No. 55 in its second week. CB’s album still managed to pull in 10,900 units in the last seven days, so the tape has now been bought 41,600 times. —Christopher Minaya @CM_3
